As it is Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada, I took charge of the desserts this year. I have a few favourites but this year I experimented with a couple of apple pie/crumble recipes to make one that tastes awesome. My goal this year was making one that didn't take too much time as I have a 1 year old that needs me in eyesight at all possible times.
Anyway here goes
My Thanksgiving Apple Crumble
1 can Apple Pie filling (I used E.D. Smith)
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground allspice
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1 pouch of President's Choice Crumble Topping Mix with Oats (Box comes with 2 pouches)
2/3 cup softened butter
Preheat the oven to 375o degrees. In a mixing bowl add the first 6 ingredients. Mix well. Place in a 9 inch square pan. In another bowl mix the crumble topping with the butter until crumbs form. Pour over the apple mixture in an even layer. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the topping is browned and filling is bubbly.
Enjoy alone or with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream.
My kids as well as the grown-ups enjoyed this dessert. I hope you will too! Let me know what you think of it.
